Getting to the bottom of the riverHere's what the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency sediment study found at the bottom of the channel near Fort Snelling. This fine material is likely to increase oxygen demand and nutrient releases when organic material decomposes. The MPCA describes the material as "gelatinous pudding-like silt."
