COE sounder 

The COE sends a 26’ launch up the channel every year to take soundings and map channel depths. The craft operates with a Global Positioning Satellite system and hydraulically extended booms; transducers send sound waves that bounce off the river bottom and calculate depth based on the time it takes the echo to return.
